After nearly two years of silence behind bars, Young Thug is finally speaking out. In a new interview with GQ, the Atlanta rapper opened up about his difficult journey through the longest trial in Georgia’s history, following his guilty plea to six counts of gang-related and racketeering charges nearly six months ago.
Despite the plea, Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, maintains his innocence. "Just pleading to something you know you didn’t do is crazy," he said. "But you can keep fighting. You can either worry about the jury’s decision or go ahead and take the chance to go home. It’s like, damn, go home."
When discussing his time in prison, Thug described the experience as "real," acknowledging the harsh realities he faced during that time. "I don’t want to deal with it again," he added, "but it was definitely real." Reflecting on the seriousness of his situation, Young Thug admitted that being at the center of such a historic trial gave him a strange sense of pride. "I just feel big," he said. "I feel like I’m one of the biggest stars."
For Thug, this ordeal is not just a chapter that has closed; it serves as a testament to his solidity, survival, and unwavering belief in his innocence. With the weight of his words and a sense of unfinished business, it’s clear that Young Thug is far from finished.
