Elisa Minelli breathes new life into timeless jazz with “Star Eyes”

There’s something deeply comforting about Elisa Minelli’s “Star Eyes.” From the very first piano phrase, you can feel her lifelong devotion to music, a journey that began in Brescia back in 2006, when she first fell in love with the piano. Now joined by guitarist Sergio Lorandi, Minelli transforms this classic jazz standard into a lush and intimate experience that feels both nostalgic and new.

The Minelli Lorandi Duo’s arrangement is beautifully measured. The song dances between elegance and emotion, where Elisa’s velvety vocals glide effortlessly over a tender quintet backdrop. Each note feels intentional, as if she’s painting light across the night sky, reminding listeners why jazz remains eternal. “Star Eyes,” along with its companions “Embraceable You,” “The Nearness of You,” and the original “Walking Alone On Snow,” forms a sentimental homage to the golden age of jazz, also an artistic statement about timeless love and creative endurance.

Having previously explored neoclassical and progressive rock influences, Minelli’s return to jazz feels like a homecoming, one that celebrates her musical maturity and emotional depth. The result is pure sophistication: a modern tribute that respects tradition while glowing with her own inner light.
