Atomsmasher shatters expectations with bilingual indie pop gem “Ok (No Way)”

Atomsmasher's new single, "Ok (No Way)", feels like an emotionally intimate conversation caught between two worlds, literally. As the lead single from their new album "Keep This Secret," this song is a rhythmically pulsing combination of acoustic pop and emotional storytelling, with lyrics alternating between English and Dutch.

Written and performed with Angela den Tex, the real magic in this song is in its duality. Each vocalist sings a character’s lines, which feel like there are two separate inner monologues, enjoying a moment together, but tugging in different emotional directions. Even if you don’t speak or have less proficiency in one of the languages, you feel the tension, the misalignment, the confusion, the hope, and the heartbreak.

"Ok (No Way)" is “hook-y” and arranged in an artistic layered feel where, even after the song ends, you are still holding the song in your head. The guitar pushes forward with the energy of conversation, just like the back-and-forth lyrical experience. In the opening of “Ok (No Way)”, find a perfect piano lesson on just how powerful friendship can be to assist in the achievement of our greatest aspirations.
