Borrowing its nucleus from Camille Saint-Saëns' iconic composition of the same name, this progressive track whirls into darker territory with brooding choruses and strong waltz rhythms. The bridge, taken from Bach's Christmas Oratorio, ties the work to centuries of tradition while placing it securely into a modern progressive metal tradition, producing a sound that is powerful and urgent and simultaneously timeless. 

"Danse Macabre" is about what we think. The lyrics pull from Steven Pinker's reflective writings on human progress, specifically focusing on the logical blunders and cognitive biases that distort our understanding of the current state of existence. It is not all too often that the audience encounters a rock band that is willing to bring the discourse of ideas so centrally into their music and make it enjoyable to listen to.
