Salt Lake City’s MELŌ delivers “HiLo,” a title track that feels massive in scope, emotionally charged, and proudly theatrical, exactly the kind of opener a concept EP deserves. It's the gateway to an entire sonic universe.
Formed by former Melodramus members Zakkary Hale, Jordan Davis, and Mikey Collard, the band pulls together metal, rock, and pop threads and weaves them into a sound big enough to fill arenas. Teaming up with composer Gavin McMahan and the Budapest Scoring Orchestra elevates the track into full cinematic territory with lush strings, sweeping movements, and orchestral flourishes that explode around the core rock elements.
“HiLo” stands out because of the way every element feels intentional. The orchestration amplifies the band, making their vocals cut through the mix with conviction, carrying the weight of the story the EP is set to tell. Even the interludes connecting tracks show how committed MELŌ is to building an experience, not just a playlist. With “HiLo,” MELŌ proves their evolution is far from over. They’re leveling up with a sound bold enough to define a new era for the band.
