Jeanie Aird brings south Texas folklore to life on "Chupacabra"

Jeanie Aird's "Chupacabra" was written about a narrator going back to the coastal south Texas, confronting painful memories and moving toward redemption, under the shadow of the legendary Chupacabra. And, for the most part, that blend of myth and sentiment lends the song a singular depth. The instrumentation is full, the lyrics lively, the tension gradually rising but not overpowering the narrative, giving room for every detail to breathe. The song is an inventive, emotionally satisfying lead and hints at even more impressive things to come from the upcoming album.
