X04's "New Death King" has some classic rock grit and old school conviction. The song has a rock spirit, built on commanding energy than a lot of polish, so the performance feels direct and lived in. ''New Death King'' is about power, mortality, and the darker mythology that comes with the idea of becoming a figure larger than life. X04 leans into that tension with a sincerity that feels refreshingly unconcerned with the familiar language of classic rock. This results in a drastic reduction that remains true to the genre and firmly rooted in the here and now.
