Cherry-Ilex find midnight honesty in latest release “5th of Liquor”

The perfect song to slide into the late-night mood of Long Beach R&B, Cherry-Ilex’s “5th of Liquor” is a vulnerable moment on a record that gets quiet as the world does. This song is about a man with a glass alone, finally confronting feelings and truths he might deny when sober. The premise gives the song an intimate tension, balancing solitude with the looseness of dropping your guard. Cherry-Ilex captures the moment's emotional contradictions without idealizing them. “5th of Liquor” is a confession at the witching hour. But the glass is less an escape than an incubator of honesty when no one else is there.
