Desire Machines take their international dream-pop and art-rock identity into vivid territory on "Searching for the Soul of Marianne Moore." The title points towards some elusive, deep-seated search, adding a curious artistic angle to the release without giving it all away. The forward motion and dreamy atmosphere combine to create a promising intersection of immersive textures and art-rock ambition. Desire Machines seem keen to flex their creative muscles outside genre boundaries, and this release is an interesting proposition for listeners willing to take a chance.
