Jimi Young’s new single “Drinking About You” is a catchy, guitar-driven tune that brings upbeat country energy. At first glance, the song is cheerful, but it is about the familiar habit of taking a drink when memories of someone won't go away. The tension between romantic wistfulness and an infectious musical spirit makes the premise work, keeping the heartbreak from becoming too ponderous. “Drinking About You” is a road trip playlist-worthy song that’s easy to sing along to and full of the lingering ache of unresolved feelings.
