Steen's "HER" explores the uncomfortable in-between of desire, deceit, and the messy feelings that complicate relationships. The lyrics describe a narrator trying to communicate, wondering whether they are attracted, and wishing they could stop someone from getting hurt. "HER" explores the tension between what we feel, what we pretend to feel, and what we are hard-pressed to admit when another person's feelings are involved.
