the aliens "queen of Spades " has a mysterious character, it has a magnetic almost elusive presence. It gives the song a sense of mystery, without needing to be taken literally. But the band is friendly enough to keep things light, to let its central image hang around. There's a playfulness to the presentation, but there's also a subtle emotional intrigue to give the song more longevity than a fleeting pop moment. "queen of spades" is an invitation to a little world full of color, stylish, curious, and deliberately open.
