The Boathouse turn housing worries into a synth-soaked vow with “Like a Lover”

The Boathouse return with “Like a Lover,” a bombastic single that cloaks unexpectedly sincere devotion in the larger-than-life sheen of ’80s AOR and synth-rock. Written during a time of housing instability that tested their relationship, the song celebrates the power of having someone by your side. Arena-sized thrills come from giant guitars, shiny synths and enormous drums, while a sudden Prince-inspired funk detour keeps things playful.
