The MAKs bring a lively folk-rock energy to "Pocket Watch," piling ringing three part harmonies atop guitars, mandolin, and driving drums. Amid its positive momentum, the song asks a sobering question, how do we make the best of a life that never gives us as much time as we'd like? The arrangement's vivacity and the subject matter's reflective quality give it its true personality. The band doesn't buckle under the anxiety, it uses that awareness as a bracing reminder to live more purposefully.
