The Oldman Sound gives bittersweet guitar music an inventive twist on “Fair-weather”

“Fair-weather,” from The Oldman Sound, offers a Beatles-like power-pop sensibility, paired with off-center guitar melodies and bittersweet storytelling. That transition into a darker second half gives the song a nice sense of contrast, as if more complex feelings lie beneath the initial brightness. “Fair-weather” lets lightness and reflection coexist, rather than staying in one mood the whole time. For those who enjoy melodic songcraft that goes in unexpected directions while staying true to its identity, it’s a rewarding listen.
