The Cure has dropped a fresh EP, breathing new life into their single “A Fragile Thing.” The release includes a remix by frontman Robert Smith and a live recording from their recent London performance at the Troxy, which streamed live on YouTube earlier this month.
“Thank you again to everyone helping make the Troxy London night special — in the room and around the world,” the band shared in a heartfelt statement.
The concert not only celebrated the arrival of Songs of a Lost World—the band’s first album in six years—but also marked the 45th anniversary of their second album, Seventeen Seconds. The night featured a three-hour setlist that showcased the new album in its entirety, blending nostalgia with the band’s signature depth.
Smith’s new remix gives “A Fragile Thing” a darker, more atmospheric vibe, adding another layer to the track’s haunting charm. Critics have hailed Songs of a Lost World as a masterstroke. Rolling Stone’s Rob Sheffield called it “the triumphant power-doom epic it needed to be,” comparing its resonance to Disintegration and praising Smith’s raw exploration of grief and loss.
With whispers of a world tour on the horizon for 2025, The Cure continues to captivate fans, proving their enduring power to evolve while staying true to their emotional core.
