Stephan Folkes asks life’s big questions in “What Should You Do (For Your Whole Life)?”

Stephan Folkes strides confidently in a new musical direction with his sixth single, “What Should You Do (For Your Whole Life)?” a song that combines urgency and reflection. It opens with direction and tempo and sets up the listener for an intimacy that will traverse life's big themes, the kind that makes a journey stir towards Paradise.

A native of Leytonstone, London, Folkes has gained a reputation with his genre-bending sound that draws upon alt-pop, R&B influences, smooth rock sensibilities and touch of jazz alongside funk and soul tastes woven with experimental-rich textures. On this latest release, he again demonstrates that his sound is more than just music, it’s a landscape of emotion.

Folkes’ case, he doubles as both a producer and sound engineer). His influences, which range from Prince and Stevie Wonder to George Michael and Billie Eilish, resonate in the track’s melodic lushness and its dynamic phrasing, but so does a unique voice that is very much his own. Longer still than its plush instrumentation, “What Should You Do (For Your Whole Life)?" is a meditation on purpose and self-investment.
