Nick Gilmore confronts longing and old habits on “Stockholm”

Nick Gilmore’s first solo project, “Stockholm,” is a determined recounting of yearning, obsession, and the brutal space left behind by a lost lover. The song links emotional longing to the pull of old habits, evoking how loneliness can make old patterns especially hard to break. For Gilmore, this release marks a new direction after years as frontman and lyricist for Toronto band The Converts, whose career included extensive touring across North America. He recorded “Stockholm” in a studio he built with long-time collaborator Joe Narducci, adding personal weight to this next chapter and balancing intimate subject matter with the perspective of an experienced songwriter.
