BPG finds sweet spot between trap heat and Grown-Man Intentions in “69 Ways”

BPG Nave’s newest release, “69 Ways" derives not only from the way it moves, but also from the way it thinks. It’s the sort of record that hits hard in the speakers but subtly nods to artistic growth. “69 Ways” rests upon a trap-riddled foundation that surely knows how to keep the momentum going. The rhythm bounces fiercely, and it pulls you in immediately. All the elements feel purposeful, affording the song a sense of movement that never falters.

“69 Ways” is high-wire production is balanced out by a more grown-up emotional perspective. But instead of going straight for excess and on-the-nose bravado, the song feels more like a world-weary perspective, one that still knows what commitment looks like but isn’t naive enough to fall into it. This juxtaposition of sounds gives the song a sense of weight and listeners something to grasp on to beyond the beat.

BPG Nave appears to be at home, it walks successfully the fine line between overdoing it and holding back. The production isn’t overblown by its message, and the message doesn’t weigh down the vibe. That balance is where “69 Ways” really comes alive, making it a track that can slip effortlessly onto both your latenight vibes and high-tempo moving-and-grooving playlists.
