Bishop Sparks reimagines jazz through rap on “Jazz Raps Vol. I (Miles)”

Bishop Sparks, a Flat-bush-born multi-instrumentalist/producer, is getting ready to break musical barriers with his latest release. "Jazz Raps Vol. I (Miles)." This project finds a melding of the improvisational heart that drives jazz with an audible punch and percussive whack that is rap, a sound both rooted in nostalgia yet built anew for today.

Bishop began playing the saxophone and bass guitar at an early age, instruments that remain a driving force in his investigations. "Jazz Raps Vol. I (Miles)" showcase my skillful fusion of live instrumentation and contemporary production sensibilities, offering listeners a rich, enveloping experience that is both personal and grand in scope.

The release illustrates Bishop’s singular approach, jazz-spiked riffs that speak in natural, rhythmic accord with rap. Each track creates a world where vibes writhe freely, rhythms take unexpected turns, and melodies resonate once the song ends. It’s not merely an act of listening, this is a conversation across times, styles, and feelings.

Bishop Sparks explains, i wanted to pay homage to the spirit of jazz legends while reinterpreting their improvisational energy into something that resonates with contemporary listeners. This project is my attempt to connect the past to now, and demonstrate that there’s a lot more between jazz and rap than people think.
